Here I am on vacation starting today after 91 days and nights spent out of home in travel or the third time in a school year .. . A school year
interventions halftone, with lots of very great moments of happiness (Decazeville Sarcelles, Bois d'Arcy, Fontenay, Merignac, Lille, Saint-Michel sur Orge, Chatou, Maöminide Boulogne and full others) but also, for the first time, several mishaps, and a marked deterioration in quality of reception in some colleges who came to pollute and question the merits these trips.
I'm going on holiday.
I'll be back in mid-July.
I will then take stock and decide if I quit or if I continue my meetings in classrooms.
But if I decide to continue, I will deliver an extremely thorough examination of applications.
I had yet taken the trouble to register here clearly in words, conditions that seem to accommodate a minimum author, thinking that all persons wishing to invite me to read it. This was not the case. Some people have even completely ignored. I promised myself that never again will I accept to be back in such situations.
To all intents and purposes, I remember that I'm a writer, not a clown, not an actress, not a tap dancer, just a writer whose job is to write books for children. Come talk to their children is not an obligation but a pleasure which I gladly book for those who want to meet the author I am talking about my books, the questions they raise, my work, my passion for writing. It is in this that a meeting with a writer. And nothing else. If children and teachers are eager to do things from my books, paperwork, visual arts, fine, but it is not for me they do. I realized, that some young teachers confused me with their inspector, expecting me to give them a good or bad rating based on the performance of their students and were disappointed not to see me applauding wildly numbers of children while striking normal accommodate me in pitiful conditions. Still others, and that very recently, were offended that I asked to travel beyond the first 3 hours drive, so you can work quietly connect my computer and thereby maximize the hours of travel, that precious lost time for writing.
Hence my weariness and my bitterness.
